Why do you refuse to play WoW, other than you are playng GW.

The monthly fee! I have always refused to play any game that requires me to spend %50 or 60 to buy then a monthly fee to play! I Have PLayed wow and the game is not bad - more PvP than I like but not bad still. BUt that was during the beta before it went live - when it cost nothing to play.
If they give me the game and then want to charge me a monthly fee to play that is a different story but for them to make money from me twice for the same game - no thanks. I might even consider it if there was a single player version on the disk you buy so you could play the game offline (that might be very boring :-) but herethey are charging you for a game you can't even play unless you pay their monthly fee. Sure it might keep the trouble making kids out (I don't think it does but its possible).
Anyway thats a business model I just plain will NOT support - I refused to buy everquest for the same reason and many other PC games. I did buy final fantasy games right up until they started doing that- have not bought one since. Actually I do not remember much about those games as its been a long time since I played a FF game -and I sold teh ones I had to a nephew: -)
Sure they come out with updates for thegame butif they makea major change you can bet they will call it part 2 or soemthing like EQ did (how many different versions of that were there that you had to buy the expansion pak to play even though you were already paying to play the game? I have no objectionsto expanion paks but not on top of a monthly fee again.
Just seems to me the game companys got greedy.

Agree, at least part of the thread might be better off on the debate forum.

I will look at it the same way as I explained to my daughter. There are 3 of us in the household that play WoW, we all have our own accounts which we pay for ourselves.

Now, I'm making the most of the money spent, not quite playing 24/7 but close enough to it. Blizzard allows for 50 chars per account, spread over as many servers as you want, but max is 10 chars per server. I have 10 on Deathwing, 6 on Dunemaul, 5 on Kel'thuzad and 1 on Eonar. The first 3 are pvp servers, the last is a normal server. I like trying different builds, some chars have found quests others haven't.

My daughter, on the other hand, wasn't playing much, so as I told her, why are u paying for a game, you don't play? Would you pay for satellite or cable if you didn't watch TV? Would you pay for dsl if you never went online?

I think you know the answers to both those questions.

Right now Blizzard is adding new content often enough with patches, not having to go out and buy an expansion pack. We just had version 1.7 come out about 2 weeks ago.

The other thing I've noticed, you can get GW items on Ebay, you can't with WoW. Only thing you can get for WoW there is gold. To me, GW is more like D2, the hacks can get in. So far in WoW, it is only exploits, somebody finds a way around a piece of terrain that they shouldn't have, Blizzard does a mini patch to fix it.

I don't know how responsive the Game Masters in GW are or how their tech support is, but my dealings with both in WoW, have been great. They do offer the customer support, even if their forums don't look like it

So to me the $13 a month I pay is well worth it, I really don't know any other form of entertainment that would be that cheap, whether somebody plays 1 or 2 hours a week or 40 hours a week, it is the individual person's choice.

Hey, monthly fee is a good reason. I don't have a problem with it, but to each their own. I completely forgot about that.

I view it as being very similar to buying a membership in a golf club and then still having to pay green fees for a round of golf.

Petwoman are you crazy? The GM's suck A$$. I have had many runnins with them and as of such have met 2 cool ones that simpathized and did the right thing.Normally it is a slacker making money playing a game fro free. They have Macro resposes to the tune of "Thank You for bringing this matter to our attention. We are aware of the problem. Thank You." So basically
"I'm to busy to deal with your pety problems F@#$ off." I do not mind paying to play WoW however there are many things that need a change. For instance if you want something crafted you must trade the player that can do the crafting (allegedly) and trust they will craft the item and give it to you. I for one got ripped off like this. Traded the guy 1000G worth of materials for a Lionheart Helm. This character then logged off after mailing the items and Gold crafting fee to a new character he made with the same name. When i reported this it a GM i was told to not close my ticket and they would investigate. Ok so i did it. 2 weeks go by and nothing. I put in another ticket requesting an outcome. I get told they are still investigating it. Another week gone by. I submit another ticket requesting an outcome. I am then told " We have found the player that has taken your items however the items cannot be replaced. Sorry for your incoinvenience." Are you F#$%ing kidding me? They found the guy, checked the logs, saw i traded this individual what i did and on top of that can see every thing typed in. And they cannot do anything? That is obsurd i was so pissed i CALLED Blizzard and bitched out the rep on the phone so much they suspended my account for 3 days lol. I love the game but for dear god make a window in the trade window where ppl can craft the items you request without having to trade the items and trust in ppl as i have lost all faith.

My issues have not been with things like that. I've had technical issues twice now. They found me on another char on another server, since they use my acct, not my char name. They then stepped me thru the solutions to the problems. They waited, like when I had to make backups for the WDB and WTF files, restart WoW and try again. Even to the point of having me try my different chars and see which ones had the problem. At that point it was strictly a hunter problem, my mage, druid and pally didn't have it.

The only other time I've talked to a GM was somebody tell'd me telling me to buy and sell gold at ___@.com. I let the GM know and yea, I got the automated response "We will take care of the matter." That was fine with me.

I don't go to the GM's for the rooftop camping in Darkshire, figure enough other ppl are whining to them about it.

For your situation, I don't think I would ever put up that kind of stuff in a trade window, if I didn't know the player. I've made friends on the server, in other guilds, and if I wanted something crafted, I'm sure somebody could do it.

this has gotten off Topic. Please stop debating P2P games and the workings of WoW in this thread. there are forums for just that.

in ffxi someone will take something to craft, you'll get your item, because otherwise they'll get a bad rep, ffxi seems more like a community than any other game i've played, alot of people will know, or at least have heard of alot of the other people on the server, at least at higher levels. (i'm a 75(max lv) samurai on there )
